Dear Parents and Guardians:
It is my privilege to work with you and your children. As the district’s school social worker, my primary responsibility is to be a member of the Child Study Team. The Child Study Team is a multidisciplinary team that determines eligibility for special education and related services. I assist my co-workers by conducting social history evaluations. The social history evaluation is an assessment of the developmental and psychosocial factors that may impact a child’s adjustment to and performance in school. I also serve as a Child Study Team case manager for students receiving special education services. As your child’s case manager, I am responsible for developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), facilitating communication between home and school, and coordinating annual reviews and triennial evaluations. I also provide school-based counseling as well as assist families in obtaining access to appropriate community services.
